Greet visitors with a Welcome Message
A Welcome Message plays a short greeting when someone lands on your site — a warm hello, brand intro, or promo line spoken with GSpeech AI voices. Unlike Full / Button / Circle players that narrate page content via selectors, Welcome Message uses Content Text you write in the widget.
When you activate Cloud, a Welcome Message widget is created automatically — but it stays disabled by default (so sites are not surprised by a greeting). Enable / publish it when you want the greeting live. Multi-Page and RHT are published by default; shortcodes are ready when you place them.
- Why useful — give pages an audio first impression without wiring Content Selector to the DOM.
- Disabled on activation — turn it on only when you want a spoken hello.
- You write the line — Content Text in the Cloud Console is what visitors hear.
- Keep it short — one or two sentences feel inviting; long scripts feel like an ad.

All How-tos
Why
When to use a Welcome Message
- Homepage hello — brand voice on first visit.
- Landing pages — short spoken promo without narrating the whole page.
- Seasonal greetings — swap Content Text without redesigning the layout.
Setup
How to add a Welcome Message
- Open your website in the GSpeech dashboard — after Cloud activation the Welcome widget already exists (disabled).
- Open Widgets → Welcome Message (no need to create a new one).
- Open the Content tab and write the greeting in Content Text.
- Match language / voice to the site default (or set a custom voice on the widget).
- Set status to Published / enabled, Save, and confirm the site connection is live.
- Visit the page and confirm the greeting plays as expected (check browser autoplay rules on mobile).
Tips
Best practices
- Short beats long — one clear sentence usually wins.
- Do not stack greetings — avoid multiple Welcome widgets firing on the same URL.
- Combine with Full Player — Welcome for hello, Full / Button for article listening.
- Test Safari & Chrome — unmuted autoplay policies differ by browser.
FAQ
Welcome Message FAQ
-
No. Full Player narrates page content via Content Selector. Welcome Message speaks the Content Text you enter in the console.
-
Usually not for Welcome Message itself — publish the widget and keep the site connection live. Use mounts for Full / Button / Circle placement instead.
